Why should I Dance Salsa?
Because it makes you happy. You get to meet new people. It keeps you fit.
Because you can do it anywhere. Yes, from the United States, Sweden, South Africa, Thailand, all the way to New Zealand. Salsa is danced in many cities across the world!
Because dancing clears your head. It lets you forget about your work, stress, duties for a moment. Dancing salsa is a fantastic way to blow off some steam.
Because it connects your body to your mind. Most people in the modern world are stuck in their head. Salsa is a great way of reconnecting to your body!
Salsa On2 vs Other types of Salsa
Salsa On2 is often also referred to as Mambo or New York style, where it became first popular in the 1960s. Since then it has spread around the world and has become very common, especially in urban areas such as London, Amsterdam, New York, and Milan.
Compared to Cuban Salsa or Salsa On1 (LA style), many dancers love Salsa On2 because the break (change of direction) happens on the 2nd beat instead of the 1st. This gives a completely different feel, which many dancers describe as ‘flow’, or ‘dancing on the music’ as compared to ‘dancing on the beat’.
Some figures, such as the double right turn, have 1 beat extra in Salsa On2 (5 beats instead of 4). This makes it much easier to perform triple turns. For this reason, if you love turns or spinning, you will love Salsa On2!
No style of salsa is better or worse than others. They are just different. All we can say is that we love Salsa On2 and we just want to spread the love!
